Understand This: Professional Citezens Debt Advice is Very Rarely Totally Free

Today there are record numbers of debt advice businesses in heated competition to provide free debt advice. Almost all companies will offer completely free no strings debt advice. For would be clients one of the problems is trying to understand whether or not such organisations are giving best value in terms of the information they give and the services they offer.

Debt advice businesses are overseen by government bodies to ensure they are professionally qualified and respect individual non disclosure agreements. The weaknesses with this is that it is not possible to monitor or prove an advisers rational when providing debt advice. The question is, how is it possible for the government find out whether or not debt advice was given in the best interests of the debtor or if, perhaps, recommendations made were skewed by the advisers own profit?

The fact of the matter is financial companies are trying to return profit, it is possible that this will result in ethical problems between the individual seeking debt advice and the debt company. Profits are generated by referring debtors to other companies or alternatively by collecting setup costs from credit companies. Because of this it is not easy to audit how efficiently such businesses are actually helping their clients. The major worry is that these debt counselling organisations will tend to make recommendations skewed by their own margins rather than what is best for their clients.

Identifying citezens advice which is honest can be a stressful process. However, shopping around for the best service is essential for such services. Customers should never go with the first debt adviser that offers them help.

The truth is by far the majority of clients fail to properly grasp their rights in terms of debt management services in general. If customers did understand these consumers would not need guidance from debt counsellors.
