Naveen Jain: Living Life to the Fullest

Filed under: Biz @ 4:24 pm

Many people believe that the United States is the best place to look for great opportunities. One of these people is Naveen Jain, cofounder and CEO of Intelius. As a young man in India, Jain dreamed big and knew how to fulfill his dreams. So after finishing his engineering degree and MBA in India, he crossed continents and went to the United States to work on his goals.

Born and raised in Uttar Pradesh, India, Naveen Jain was never ignorant of the fact that illiteracy was rampant in the community he grew up in. So he vowed to make things different for himself.

He went to the Indian Institute of Technology and graduated with a degree in engineering. Afterwards, he went on to receive his MBA from India’s XLRI School of Management.

Armed with his determination to succeed and his educational achievements, Naveen Jain joined a business exchange program that allowed him to migrate to the United States. Even though he had no money and sure place to go to, Jain pursued his plans and kept his determination to succeed. His perseverance paid off when he was taken in by Microsoft Corporation, where he became one of the senior executives responsible for developing the Microsoft Network and the OS/2 platform.

In 1996, after he left Microsoft, Jain built InfoSpace, a company that provides content for major Internet companies. Jain was instrumental in the development and expansion of InfoSpace and helped it gain 24 acquisitions after it went public on the NASDAQ.

Several years later, in 2003, Jain left InfoSpace and continued to pursue his goals. He did this by building Intelius, a company that offered reliable and useful information to its customers. Again, Naveen Jain became instrumental in developing and expanding the company. After only a few years’ time, Intelius grew into one of North America’s most successful ad fastest growing companies. It registered a significant growth margin of 1566.27% from 2003 to 2007.

Naveen Jain has certainly come a long way from his youthful years in Uttar Pradesh. But this has not made him turn his back on his countrymen. Together with various US-centered charity organizations, Jain also spends his time and finances contributing to causes that benefit his fellow Indians.
