Renting a Car Is Easy

Filed under: Online Travel Resources, Road Rage @ 4:18 am

Numerous people have the misconception that car rental companies are nasty people and the entire process is a tedious one. What you should be aware is that working with a car hire company can be one of the simplest things that you will ever do. These companies take things very seriously and they are quite pleasant to deal with when you have rental needs. Hiring a car could not get any easier, especially in the major cities of Australia. Car rental in Melbourne is a child’s play and in my experience, car rental in Sydney is, as well.

One thing to know about car rental in Brisbane or in a big city like Sydney is that branches are quite conveniently situated. You do not have to go out searching to find one of these, because they are usually based where people would commonly have a need. If you are coming into the airport, then car hire in Brisbane or Sydney is very easy, with the rental companies having locations at the major air fields. As soon as you walk out the terminal, head over to the booth and pick up the key to the car that you have placed a reservation for.

I have rented a car several times, and the companies that I have dealt with are very helpful and passionate about providing you with an easy experience. You do not have to jump through huge hoops. For the most part, they understand that when people are travelling, they do not want to put up with any more hassles than they are already dealing with. If you just want to get a car and get out on your way, then car rental in Perth or other cities is a breeze and it’s something to keep in mind.

Likewise, my experience with car hire was a good one because of the drop off locations that were also available. I was able to find a location quickly and it was right near my hotel, making life much easier than it might have otherwise been.

With 20.4 million people, mostly focused in the eastern and south eastern coastal urban regions. This means that there are big open spaces to explore in the remainder of the country, and this can often be done by car. Lovely coast lines, inland mountainous regions and verdant tropical forests with native plants and wildlife are there for the traveller to experience.

You can easily arrange for a car rental at the airport or hotel with an international drivers permit or a valid American or European drivers licence. There are dozens of car hire companies providing various types of vehicles, from different makes and sizes of cars and SUVs to minivans, camper vans and RVs, minibuses, and 4WDs. There is a vehicle to suit anyone. For instance, camping enthusiasts can get camper vans that will sleep up to 6 people, and come fully equipped with a microwave, gas stove, griller and refrigerator. Some even have double beds, toilet and shower in addition to the mini-kitchen. If you are travelling in more tough terrain, there are four-wheel-drives. If you are traveling on a budget, there are economy compact cars and economy campers. There are also convertibles and luxury large cars, if you want to travel in style.

If you are visiting Australia from another country, you should be knowledgeable with the driving conditions: driving on the left side of the road, observing the different speed limits (in kilometres) and regulations in the States to be visited, checking weather and road conditions before travel, letting police know of travel plans if driving in rural areas, making way for the road trains (a semi-truck hauling 3 large trailers), etc. The car hire company will usually supply you with detailed information on driving rules and regulations, supplies to take (most importantly, plenty of water), emergency procedures, potential dangers such as wildlife and driving at night, as well as accommodations, routes and resources on the road. Study and preparation beforehand will insure a successful and pleasurable car vacation in Australia.

The Story of the Very First Catered Chalet Breaks

Filed under: Online Travel Resources, Recreation Tips @ 8:23 am

Back in 1770 the very first tourist hotel was completed in Chamonix Haute Savoie France.

Prior to this Chamonix ski resort was a savage and tough agrarian hamlet where locals captured their animals and farmed their own wheat.

Farmhouses at this time were used to stock dairy cows during the summer.

Milk was kept by making it into cheese and butter and stored in the farm for use over the long wintertimes.

In the snow season the farmhouses were locked up, and any valued possessions were put safely in a tiny mazot.

Quite who devised the chalet vacation is obscured by time, it was probably some zealous people who recognized a formula that was new and exciting.

For entrepreneur Erna Low it commenced whilst she was a nostalgic graduate and couldn’t afford to visit her siblings in Austrias often as she would like to.

Therefore in the 1930’s she took a gamble and put ad in the papers to invite punters on a ski vacation. For only £15 they traveled to and from the resort, had food and board in the sole chalet, and had skiing hire and tuition.

Skiing was strenuous, there weren’t any ski lifts, no safety fixations, simply hard leather shoes, but it was so successful that Erna carried on taking groups on vacations, ensuring she utilized exceptional chalets and guides.

The chalet breaks in the formative years were a far cry to the standards we get nowadays.

Hot water was in short supply, bathrooms would be used by all of the customers, and there wasn’t a chef; the guests were expected to muck in.

It was a real gamble who might be in the lodge for a holiday, you could be agreeably surprised to encounter brand new acquaintances, or have an uncomfortable week amongst strangers. A far cry from the luxury chalets of today.
